What is the process of hiring an individual when working with Opportunity Networks?
It is the same process as you would conduct with any employee.
Where does our funding come from?
Opportunity Networks is a state certified vendor to both New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Developmental Services and to New Hampshire Department of Education, Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Our professional employment specialists provide the support required to assist individuals in gaining, maintaining and learning new job skills which allow for obtaining and advancing in a job positions.
In some instances we may receive funding from local school district to provide assessment, training, or school-to-work support to individuals in the work place in paid employment.
What should I do if after you finish the training, their supervisor doesn't’t feel the person is ready to do their job?
It is a priority of ours to make sure training is complete before we do leave, but if a situation does arise due to changes in the work environment or in the job description we will be available to work with the individual and staff of the company to make sure that all training and support needs are met.
My company has an entry level or slightly higher position opening. Since the person you’re working with has a disability should I assume they can’t do this job?
We work with individuals with different skill sets and levels of education which can be matched to various job responsibilities that yield a productive and harmonious relationship between the employee and the employer. In our history we have found on many occasions that slight alterations to job descriptions have led to high levels of success. Call and discuss the job opening with us. Is the person I hire an employee of the company I work for?
Having a paycheck from the company for which you work, assists a person to be part of their company culture and receive similar financial and non-financial benefits which the company offers to its employees- things as simple as movie discount coupons, access to a member only cooperative bank, or a floating holiday or special employee discounts.
Dedicated to making situations work for employers and employees, we would prefer to look at situations case by case. It is important that an employee feel a part of their company.
If there is bad weather and your agency is closed, will the person report to work?
After a safety evaluation of the road conditions, our agency will take the necessary steps to get the workers to the jobsite. We do not automatically follow the decisions made by the schools as we are not expecting children to stand on sidewalks waiting for a pickup. We are often open in inclement weather and will arrange with you to make up work in the unusual circumstance we may be closed.
