- Why do we want to work so hard for you? It is our belief that individuals living with disabilities have many hurdles to face or overcome in their lives from educating the general community on the value they bring to the life of the community , to acceptance in the workforce and the social scene, to continued growth and mastery of skills of independence.
- We do not want to be another hurdle, but rather a partner in creating success in all areas of life in which an individual takes aim at trying.
- Employment Results Oriented -We are chosen more often than any other vendor to provide Vocational Rehabilitation Transitional Employment Services to all eligible VR participants.
A Staff of Dedicated, Skilled, Caring Individuals
Our Direct Care and Employment Specialist Employees: The folks who provide direct care and employment development services have staff longevity which far exceeds industry norms. Many staff also possess skills and training which exceed the industry standards. When hiring candidates the most qualified will be turned away if their core values in serving individuals with disabilities and a desire to be of service are not repeatedly demonstrated during our extensive interview process.
Why do we find this of value? The folks who are with individuals every day are the folks who deliver the services which promote the success of dreams large and small – a paycheck, a number of employed hours, a skill which allows more self confidence to develop, a measure of independence, having your voice heard and listened to.
Who they are, what they believe in, how they can provide support and how they interact during the work day are the backbone of our ability “to walk our walk” - to do what we say we can do.
Our Program Coordinators and Management Team have experience in the worlds that you may have touched on your way to working to adulthood – self advocacy, employment, education and special education, adult services for individuals with developmental disabilities, counseling, behavior management, skills development which foster independence and experience in living with individual family members with disabilities.
We Think Outside the Box
We often develop individual programs which meet the individual’s hopes for their future. Opportunity Networks staff bring expertise in taking on this challenge as it has been our model for the last 28 years.
-
Across all of our programs we possess a strong desire and ability to think and produce programming which is often outside the box.
-
We design a program for you- we don’t fit you into a program we offer. While this is easy to say it can be challenging to do. With time and getting to know the person we are serving, like a fine wine, programming gets better and better.
-
We don’t start with a formula plug and play program, we create your program with you, by listening, getting to know you and what you like and dislike, and supporting what you hope to accomplish.
We Share Our Thoughts, Our Successes and Our Mistakes
- While we are not experts on people’s lives, we have a broad range of experiences in things which help individual’s master skills and achieve life goals. We’re pragmatic, nuts and bolts visionaries who know that if you listen, you can be of service. And Being of Service matters.
- When you work with us, you are working with a group of folks of varied disability related work and personal backgrounds who offer their perspectives to enrich your thinking. Our relationship may be a long one, if we are as successful as we think we can be in working with you.
-
When you meet us, if we think we can be successful we will let you know, and if we think we can’t, we’ll let you know that too.
-
While we strive for perfection we recognize that is seldom possible 100% of the time. If we make a mistake, we will acknowledge it. We hire staff with a keen eye to their values - their interest in being of service, their integrity and honesty, their desire to guide and teach with kindness without taking over. These values increase the likelihood that if they make a mistake, they will acknowledge it with the client and the staff supervisor. Our experience tells us that is true.
